Fallacious reasoning is everywhere: the media, advertising, everyday conversation, politics, and more. Knowing how to spot bad reasoning, and in particular being able to explain exactly why the reasoning is bad and what is wrong with the argument, is therefore a very useful and important skill.
To that end, in this workshop we will discuss logical fallacies, including what they are and how to identify them. We will examine some real-world examples taken from the media, to gain practical experience in being able to identify and name specific logical fallacies in real-world writing.
There will also be free snacks.
