This Tuesday (March 19), we will be screening Monty Python’s Life of Brian. There will be free pizza and snacks at the event, so please join us on Tuesday in Asia Centre room 115, from 12-2pm. (Don’t worry, we will allow enough time for everyone to arrive from class before we start the movie.)
Life of Brian is a 1979 British comedy film that tells the story of Brian Cohen, a young Jewish man who is born on the same day as, and next door to, Jesus Christ, and who is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah. The film contains themes of religious satire that were controversial at the time of its release, drawing accusations of blasphemy and protests from some religious groups. But the film was still a box-office success, grossing fourth-highest of any film in the UK in 1979.
The film we chose to screen was chosen by Facebook poll. If you didn’t know about this or didn’t vote, we recommend you join our Facebook group and get involved in the discussion!
